Ardnahein Care is a home from home, with great facilities and a highly qualified, experienced and friendly Care Team. Our nurses and carers deliver a continuous high standard of care, support and companionship around the clock for residents in a comfortable, safe environment.

Ardnahein Care supports what is known as ‘person-centred’ care. This means that all aspects of care and support, from nursing and personal well-being to activities of daily living, are agreed in consultation with each resident, their family and supporting professionals. Each resident has a Key Worker who builds up with them a picture of how they like their days to run, so we can support this happening, from the time they like to get up to when they like to go to bed, for example the kind of help they like to have/need for personal hygiene, care, dressing etc; when and where they enjoy having meals and snacks and how they like to occupy leisure time. This is then shared with the caring, experienced Care Team on duty to meet residents’ needs 24 hours a day.

We have robust policies and procedures in place that are designed to safeguard residents from all types of abuse. We actively support and abide by the National Care Standards (Care Homes for Older People) as set out by the Scottish Government and inspected by the Care Inspectorate.

Ardnahein Care complies fully with the Care Standards Act 2000 and has been praised for its person-centred care on inspection by the monitoring body, the Care Inspectorate.

Ardnahein Care is a residential care complex for older people seeking care and support with aspects of daily living. With a wide range of support and professional care to choose from, each guest (and their family/advocate) determines the level of care required and how they wish it to be delivered.

Located in the beautiful Scottish Seaside town of Dunoon in Argyll, Ardnahein Care enjoys panoramic views over the esplanade and seafront in the West Bay: an easy, flat walk and wheelchair accessible from the front door. The safe, private, gardens of Ardnahein Care are delightful: designed to ensure everyone who wishes to enjoy the healthy seaside air and views may do so in a safe, relaxing or stimulating way in accordance with their needs and wishes.

Ardnahein Care is accessible from Glasgow (35 miles) and Edinburgh (82 miles); is privately owned; and situated in one of Dunoon’s most sought after locations, beside both beach and town.

At Ardnahein Care we understand how important it is to feel comfortable and well informed before making any big decisions. And we feel that moving into a residential care complex should not be seen as ‘a last resort’ but as a way of continuing to enjoy your life to the maximum, whether that’s in a favourite armchair in your own room, being visited by family, joining in activities and outings or walking/wheelchairing along the promenade chatting with passers-by and having ice-cream in the café. With an excellent reputation and highly trained staff providing a wide range of care and support, Ardnahein Care is a happy and welcoming place.

The best way to start is by coming and talking with us and having a look around. If you would like us to, we can visit you at home and talk with you about how you like to live your life, your care needs and any worries you may have. Then you may like to come for a day to see how you like it – we are so sure you will enjoy yourself that we offer a free day’s respite trial! Then you may like to come for a week or so to give yourself a break from the daily chores and looking after yourself, or to give your family a rest or holiday from looking after you. This stage may be sufficient for many people and for a long time, or you may decide to stay for longer periods and possibly eventually prefer to stay rather than go home. The decision is always yours and you can change your mind whenever you want to.

If you are thinking of making your life easier and more enjoyable through respite or longer stays in supported living, we strongly advise and welcome you to visit Ardnahein Care to experience its warm welcome, professional care for individual needs and emphasis on supporting you to live life the way you enjoy it.
